Mental Health Moment | Feeling Empty
Jun 26, 2022“How often does your mind tell you to do something, but your body just stays in the same place, too tired to actually do the thing? Sleep deprivation, mental exhaustion, and depression can all keep us from actively participating in life, and taking part in the things that our mind tells us we should be doing. Self-assess: How well do you sleep, and how much regular sleep do you get? When you try to focus on something, mentally, and just can't because you're just "not in the mood.” How often does that happen? How often do you feel apathetic, cynical, sad, or just not up to doing things that are part of life? Avoiding social events, not taking care of chores, and avoiding conversations or mental tasks that seem difficult are all signs of depletion. Solutions are counseling, anti-depressants, connection, taking baby steps to get a little exercise, eating healthy, drinking lots of water, set a regular sleep schedule & stick to it, read or listen to things that calm you , and be sure and have 1 person you can talk to when things start to feel stressful. Take care of yourself.. and you'll be able to be strong enough to take care of the rest.”
